Essential oils while pregnant

Hi,

I’ve been using Weleda’s Cellulite oil which contains birch oil for a few weeks now and have just read that it’s a no for pregnancy. I’m nearly 5 weeks and worried.
Just wondered if anyone can shed some light on this.
Thanks

Birch oil is 98% methyl salicylate which thins the blood. It can make the effects of other blood thinning drugs such as heparin and warfarin much stronger and therefore greatly increase the chances of haemorrhaging.

You can't change the past and if you're not bleeding, I wouldn't worry, but I'd stop using it just to be safe.

Most essential oils are not suitable for the first 16 weeks of pregnancy as no safety data exists for obvious ethical reasons.
