12 week scan - issues and nub?!

Hi all. Had my 12 week scan today, should have been bang on 12 weeks but sonographer has put us at 13+1. Baby was not for playing ball so they couldn't get the NT measurements needed, so will have the quads in a few weeks time. I had to empty my bladder, and she tried an internal scan and nothing. I think the WhatsApp group I WAS in has now left me fearing for the worse as they all chose to pay privately for the NIPT before even their 12 week scans.

Anyway. I suppose that was my little bit of getting stuff off my chest. Is there a nub on the picture below? I've flipped it upside down as baby was on its belly facing down. I would send it off for that NUB theory thing but don't want to if there's no nub 🤣 it doesn't seem as clear as the 12 weeks scan I had with my first.

Thanks x

Hi! 👋
K so, I also measured ahead on my 12 week from what they thought I'd be and what I'd measured before at 9 weeks. I'd have no concern there at all if I were you.
As for the picture, I personally can't see a nub, but little one does look like it's in the most awkward position!
I didn't have nipt done for any of mine, never even crossed my mind.
How old are you again? I think this would play a bigger factor in making the decision to go private for the test but there will be others (one in particular I can think on our other thread) who has more experience with the nipt than I do
Super glad you've stepped away from the WhatsApp group! Sometimes more of a hindrance than a help ❤

Also, are they asking you back in for a rescan?

Oh hey @LaTable.. may post on our other thread in a minute then and see if I get a response about the NIPT.

I'm 35. I didn't have it with our first but they were able to measure the NT on their scan. Baby was just not having it today. I have read that the 20 week anomaly scan looks for Edwards and Patau but 20 weeks is leaving it quite late to find out about one 9f those, I feel.

They haven't invited me back for a rescan. I think I may ring them tomorrow and see it they would recommend a NIPT or not. I'm not sure if this would then replace the quads I have booked in!

Okay so from a quick Google, I think you should be good with the quads? I think the nipt is more accurate but still not definitive. I'd imagine if your quads come back with high risk youd probably be offered further testing. I guess with the nc measurement just helps to add information for the risks but not necessarily determines the risk on that alone. If that makes sense?
All in all, I personally wouldn't be worried. Especially if the person doing the ultra sound wasn't, but it may be worth calling to see if you can book in again for a remeasure if it puts you more at ease x
