Hello I took a pregancy test three days ago. I waited five minutes. I looked at the test and it was negative. I left it in my bathroom and I just looked at it again today before throwing it out. It is now showing two lines. Its not like a faint urine line or anything. It shows two clear red lines.

I will get another test today. But has that happened to anyone else?

Hi OP. If it’s outside the timeframe, it’s invalid. It’s just evap line. My suggestion for next time is when time to read has gone, bin it immediately and never look at it again. In my personal experience it was quite triggering seeing those two very much wanted lines and then knowing they’re not the real thing. Good luck for future tests x

I agree with PP, you really need to ignore anything that comes up after the timeframe. Even negative tests can get a "positive" line if you leave them, which really messes with your head

Thanks for that. It is the opposite for me. I was panicking when i thought that it looked positive

It would be a very bad time for me to be pregnant right now.

I am not in good circumstances, and i wouldnt want to bring a baby into them.

So i am hoping it's negative

@pamelanoon if that’s the case then it’s looking like your preferred outcome currently. It’s possible it’s too early to test though depending on where you are in your cycle. I hope your period comes soon, but I would re-check a week after you’re period is due to arrive if it still hasn’t shown. Read the test within no. of minutes as per instruction and that will be your answer. Good luck.

Thank you.

I never trust periods as a sign of not being pregnant.

My cousin had periods all the way through her pregnancy , and this made her only realise she was pregnant when she was six months pregnant.

I will do a test again this week and next week.

I was just thinking yesterday, all the things that women have to go through. Men can just walk away from sex and have no stress.

I was looking at the pregnancy test yesterday and i was so utterly stressed and panicked.

@pamelanoon agree it is so unfair but there are ways to potentially avoid the same stress in the future. Perhaps consider seeing your Gp or local sexual health clinic to discuss available options for contraceptives. There is also the morning after pill that you can get from Gp. You may already know all of this though so please ignore if that’s the case!

We did use contraception but no contraception ia 100% effective. Ive had pregnancy scares while using the pill, condoms etc.

Anyway thankfully it is negative

Good luck for future OP. I hope you find what’s best for you so you don’t panic or stress after sexual intercourse in the future.
