Placenta Previa

Hi I was diagnosed at 20 weeks pregnant with a low lying placenta 9.8mm covering cervix and been told it can lead to placenta previa. Googling this and been told by by obstetrician and midwives that it’s dangerous and I will have to have a C-section if the placenta doesn’t move up. The problem is I’ve had a C-section before and I really don’t want another but because I’ve had one two pregnancies beforehand it might make my placenta stuck. Has anyone been diagnosed with this and the placenta has moved up after having a previous C-section I’m a nervous wreck at the moment and worried about my scan in 2 weeks. I’m high risk anyway but don’t want to get into all that lol

Obviously everyone is different but I had this and went on to have a further scan and the placenta had moved. Fingers crossed !

It’s fairly common to have this at 20 weeks. The vast majority of placentas will move up. Only 1 in 200 are low-lying by term. Don’t panic yet. The odds are very much in your favour.

Aw fingers crossed then I find out in 2 weeks roughly with another scan so hopefully it’s moved :)

Our daughter was booked in for a C section at 37 weeks due to PP but miraculously it moved at 34 weeks so all was well and she had a normal birth.

Mine was low lying at 20 week scan so I got another scan at 34 weeks to see if it’s moved. My 34 week scan was on Wednesday but my placenta is still only 14mm from the os - my trust has a tolerance of 20mm from the os before they’ll let you have a vaginal birth. I’ll have an elective c section either way because I had and emergency one for my first so I’m fine with c sections. I do have another scan booked in at 36 weeks to see if it’s moved!

I’ve had a previous EMCS and mine has moved up to approx. 24mm away from OS. OS, so we think I’m probably good.

Im going to go ELCS anyway, not taking any chances and I had one my first birth anyway so know what to expect. Not ideal but there we go
