Drinking lots without knowing I am pregnant

I recently found out I am pregnant, but I had no idea. The pregnancy test says I am 1-2 weeks and the last two weeks I have drank a lot. I have drank about 4 bottles of wine (1 whole bottle per sitting) and two other occasions I had 2 large glasses. I am recently engaged hence the celebrating and drinking. I don’t usually drink but the last 2 weeks have been non stop drinking. I am really worried this will affect the baby! Obviously I had no clue I was pregnant. Will it affect the baby this early on? I am just wanting some reassurance.

It’ll be fine. Lots of people don’t know at first.

I did this with my DD I did not know I was pregnant and was not trying and went out and drank 5 pints of cider! She was fine

If the test says 1-2 then it means you are 3-4 weeks pregnant. I had two bottles of champagne the night I conceived, plus more a week later. All is well 😊

I wouldn’t worry too much. I think that’s the case with most women! I found out at 6 weeks pregnant and had just been away for a long weekend for a friends 30th and had drank heavily throughout! My son is a healthy 7 year old, no issues.

Congrats by the way 🥰

Thank you for the reassurance! I don’t usually drink so I am kicking myself that I have been drinking so much. Thank you ❤️

Try not to panic. It's in the past and there's nothing you can do now. You obviously care and now that you're aware of your pregnancy you can cut out alcohol and take the precautions and care needed.

Avoid it from here on out and speak to your midwife / dr at your first checkup for reassurance.

Congratulations and take care of yourself 💕

With my 1st, I didn’t find out until about 10ish weeks (I had the implant). She came on many nights out in utero with my 19 year old self 🙈 Absolutely no issues with my pregnancy, her birth or her development. She’s now 15 and aside from the usual teenage attitude, she’s doing amazing ☺️

I found out I was pregnant the Thursday after my Dads 60th birthday weekend…. My daughter is now almost 2 and she’s fine. Try not to worry, it’s really common.

This early won’t make any difference as the umbilical cord hasn’t developed yet. I think it’s only a real problem with sustained problem drinkers. Now you know you can follow all the guidance. Congratulations and hope you have an uneventful next 8 months!
