The lines look too close together so I’m unsure whether this is a true positive…tested 8 days before expected period

Looks faulty as there are two very faint lines in addition to the control line. 8 days before your period is very early - how many days post ovulation are you?

13dpo

13dpo

That doesn’t sound right. Its very unusual to be 13dpo plus be 8 days before your period. It would mean your luteal phase is 21 days long which would be very very unusual and would likely indicate an issue.

Are you a doctor since you're so confidently saying this?
It's best not to give advise to people about something you aren't sure about.
Long luteal phase is normal for some people.

I’m not giving anyone advice? I haven’t advised her to do anything. I simply stated it is unusual. Which it is. I didn’t say impossible or that she’s wrong. The facts are a normal luteal phase is 10-14 days. With obvious variations a few days either way. I mean just googling this will tell you that 21 day luteal phase is not standard. In the same way a very short luteal phase is not standard. Both could indicate hormonal issues. I’m not exactly insulting her here or anything but stating something is unusual.

It is more likely though that the OP possibly has not tracked ovulation or she is using an app which only guesses these things.
