Need advice please! Cough straining uterus. 7 weeks

I’m only 7+2

Last night I got a tickle in my throat and coughed 3 times.

Each time was a strange and unpleasant sensation where I felt the cough strain my uterus. It felt like the uterus was being strained each time. The feeling only lasted a second or so with each cough but it was a strange feeling. It didn’t hurt as such and wasn’t like a sharp stabbing pain I have heard people describe.

I know there’s such a thing as round ligament pain but this wasn’t in the sides in was central and deep inside, where my uterus would be. Plus I think 7weeks is too early for round ligament pain?

What could this be?

I’m so worried it may have harmed baby or cause the baby to dislodge from the uterus walls

I’m still worried about this too now i’m already in second trimester but i’ve read that baby is very well protected inside and as PP mentioned above it’s most likely ligament pain.

OP, I had pneumonia in my first trimester. Granted, my Dr was very keen to get the infection sorted out quickly because I was pregnant and it’s not great to be coughing all day when pregnant, but coughing three times is just not going to cause an issue. I was coughing for three weeks before I realised I wasn’t just getting over a cold and should go talk to my GP. My baby is currently running around the living room.

Thank you for this. Did you ever feel the coughing straining your uterus though? That’s what has really scared me. I felt it more in my uterus than my chest. So glad things worked out for u as that must have been so scary

So at 7 weeks pregnant your uterus is probably still way down low in your pelvis. If the straining you felt was higher up then it was probably just your abdominal muscles you felt. And round ligament pain is a normal part of pregnancy and feels weird and cramps and uncomfortable.
Sorry to jump to the other way of looking at this, but if something does go wrong for you with this pregnancy, it won’t be because you coughed three times at 7 weeks. If you’re taking all the normal pregnancy precautions (avoiding foods that the NHS recommends, taking your folic acid, avoiding drugs and alcohol) then you’re doing everything you need to to give yourself the best chance of having a healthy baby. Everything else is outside your control.

I had whooping cough in my first trimester and coughed some days continuously for hours at a time and had no consequences. Coughing can involve the whole body just because you felt the twinge lower doesn't mean it's your uterus.

Thanks everyone I think I’ve just been a bit anxious about this pregnancy

I had food poisoning in the second trimester, and was projectile vomiting, dry heaving and 💩 for 8 hours straight. I was in so much pain in my back, stomach, womb so I went to the drs. She told me that baby is in the safest place and constantly wretching for hours on end would not harm the baby. She’s in a safe little bag of water and wouldn’t feel a thing! The only danger was dehydration. Me on the other hand, all muscular and ligament pain. These babies are made of tough stuff and our body is made to carry them. Try not to stress too much and enjoy it as much as you can, it goes really fast 🤗💕
