TTC & getting our bfp - taking the news

So we have been trying for 16mths we got our bfp, both equally wanted a baby of our own.

OH did not show much excitement and it has kind of upset me, I haven’t questioned it, I’ve slept on it for a few days.

He has gone to work this morning sent me our usual I love you morning text, but yesterday no emotion or touch the last few days when we were away.

Is this okay? how did other partners react?

we have 3 boys between us.

Congratulations! I think it can be a tricky one, even when you’re actively trying for a baby it can be a bit of a shock to actually see that positive test- I know I felt that with both of my pregnancies a bit of a “oh god, an actual baby”! Is may just be that?

The other thing I suppose is that sadly not every positive pregnancy test results in a healthy pregnancy and baby, so some people don’t really feel that excitement over a test and are conscious it may not work out. I know I have a friend who feels that way, she doesn’t see the excitement in a test and only really lets herself feel excited once the 12 week scan is over and done.

As I’ve put on the other thread it could be an act of self preservation after you’ve both been trying for so long. When I got my BFP this time 3 months after my last MC and 3 years into this TTC journey, we hardly mentioned it for the first couple of weeks. We were scared to get too excited too early as we’ve been burned before. It’s a proper emotional rollercoaster!

Your both right, suppose I am the only one feeling the pregnancy symptoms (next to none really) but the heavy/mild bloat.

My fertility nurse called me as arranged previously after my hycosy, announced the news to her, she was thrilled!
she said those hycosys do miracles! Sure does!
she has booked me in to have a scan at 8/9weeks, so looking forwards to that! 🥰
I’ve contacted my GP I have my 1st midwife appt in August, day before I go away ✨🥹

I messaged OH with the appts as he is in work and he said he is buzzing, just wants to not get his hopes up too soon until the scan, so least I know how he feels now, so I am feeling a bit better ❤️

I've had 4 very much planned and wanted pregnancies and every time had a oh wow it's real is this a good idea days in the first weeks after getting a positive test.
Really for me the pregnancies don't get real until I'm getting lots of movement. I can't buy into a pregnancy until beyond 12-14 weeks. I'm 32 weeks currently and only bought my first thing for baby this week and that felt really weird.
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt
