Raw pizza

totally going crazy, but I just ate a whole pizza that may have been raw inside. I was soo hungry I barely tasted it, but the last piece my partner had and said he doesn’t think it’s cooked properly. It’s one of those pizzas pre made from Tesco chilled aisle so I’m super confused how it’s not cooked? I had it in the oven for 12 mins as per the packet! Help :( I can’t stop thinking I’ve hurt my baby

Chilled pizzas aren’t even exactly raw when you buy them, are they? I think you will be ok.

I assume the dough is par baked in these things? That might give you a sore tummy, but if you ate it and it didn’t taste bad it was probably cooked enough.

You'll be fine. Its probably just a bit soggy as pizzas can be. Even if it was undercooked it'll be fine, at worst I guess you might stomach ache but in my 30+ years of eating pizza weekly in various states ranging from almost still frozen to charcoal ive never noticed any ill effects!

You’ll be absolutely fine.

Well I certainly have a stomach ache now :( I’m just so besides myself and so annoyed. I honestly barely tasted the pizza I was that hungry (as I hadn’t eaten since lunch time my fault!). I know I shouldn’t use google but I’m reading listeria is a potential threat :(

It will be anxiety causing your stomach ache. You will be fine. I didn’t realise I was pregnant and went out a drink a huge amount of tequila, baby was fine.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 05/08/2025 22:10

Stomach ache might be due to wolfing it down too quick.

Next time wait an extra 5 minutes of cooking!!

Em232 · 05/08/2025 22:16

I ate the pizza a few hours ago so I can’t imagine the stomach ache is from eating it too fast. It’s definitely rumbling a bit too like I’ve eaten something not so nice

Pizza is bread, cheese and tomato sauce. What damage could it possibly do? You can eat sandwiches? Even if it had ham or peppers or chicken on it, they would be safe to eat raw (as in cold, the toppings are pre cooked if necessary)? Raw uncooked dough might give you wind from the yeast but a supermarket fridge pizza is already part cooked. It really is fine.

simsbustinoutmimi · 05/08/2025 22:29

I got food poisoning from a pizza once, it’s definitely possible. However it would be from one of the ingredients itself rather than not cooking it though right. Pizza toppings are already cooked.

Jumpthewaves · 05/08/2025 22:30

There's nothing in there that could harm you or baby, I expect your stomach ache is down to worrying. Try to calm down and drink plenty of water, you'll be fine.

sellotapechicken · 05/08/2025 22:45

How could you get sick from eating ‘raw’ flour, water and yeast?

Em232 · 06/08/2025 08:41

Raw flour can harbour listeria E. coli salmonella etc so pretty worried @sellotapechicken

In food like this that is so processed and that has been in the oven it will be fine. You will be fine.

Henbags · 06/08/2025 09:26

We have all had soggy pizzas and the Tesco ones are crap - they never taste cooked, but they are if you’ve done it for the correct time length. Had one last week (am also pregnant). You need to chill.

The pizza base won’t be raw though? Otherwise when you get it out the pack it would be a wet dough? It will be pre cooked (at least partially)
