I saw a Physio today and the cystocele (bladder collapsing through vagina wall) I got from my v long labour (28 hours + 3 hours pushing) with DS (now 22 months) has got worse. That's what's been causing the dragging achy pain that I get when I'm tired, have been standing a lot, and particularly after I've had sex (damn!).
She's referring me to an Obs and Gynae consultant and thought I would end up with one of those ring pessary things in pregnancy to hold everything in, and an op afterwards. She said it would also have implications for birth, although wouldn't be drawn on what.
I'm pretty gutted, as was hoping for a homebirth and suspect this will put me in 'high risk' category and possibly even c-section. Also really don't like the whole thing of feeling so damaged, wondering if it's my own fault for insisting on labouring naturally so long last time, implications for pregnancy (including to avoid picking up my toddler as much as possible! How am I supposed to do that?!) and afterwards.
She said it would probably get worse as the baby gets bigger (currently 20 weeks). I'm fretting about how much worse it's likely to get. Am I likely to be in constant pain? Am I going to have to spend the rest of the pg sitting down? Should I give up on those plans to decorate and garden lots? Should I change my plans for the summer which include a couple of solitary trips away for weekends by public transport (so lugging luggage and general lack of home comforts).
If anyone else has had this, I'd love to hear your experiences.
