10mg Vitamin D?!

I saw my midwife today for my first appointment, and she advised to take 10mg of vitamin D a day.

I’ve had a look online, and from what I can work out… 10mg = 10,000 micrograms, so I need to be taking 10 of these tablets a day?

Something doesn’t seem right, or maybe I’m missing something! Any advice would be great 😂

No 10mcg or ug is 10 micrograms- you only need to take 1!!! The requirements is 10mcg in pregnancy not milligrams!

Does she not mean 10 micrograms?
The maximum to take is 100 micrograms per day which is 4000IU
The usual amount advised is 10 micrograms = 400IU

Oh dear. The old “if the dose you are about to give the patient means you will give them several tablets, go and check a reference book” comes to mind! 10mcg is the dose. NICE guidance and all that.
However you’ve got I.u. confused, thise tablets are 25mcg 1000iu, you need 10mcg 400 iu.

25 micrograms are also fine for her to take as its within the maximum recommended amount
