Low iron?

I’m 20 weeks pregnant, second baby, worried I have low iron. My levels at booking were 126g/l, I’m not sure if this is low? At booking with my first baby they were closer to 155g/l.

Im very tired, been having headaches (I don’t usually get headaches) and dizzy/faint spells. My next midwife appointment isn’t until 28 weeks. Can I just ring my gp and ask for a blood test?

That’s your haemoglobin not your iron or ferritin and it’s normal.

Thanks, what does the iron result look like? I’m guessing they take this at booking?

Actually I can see my ferritin was 15 after my last pregnancy in April 2024, it was 46 when I first got pregnant. For some reason the midwife hasn’t recorded it this time.

That sounds like low iron and it can't hurt to eat a bit more meat/fish/beans/leafy greens, ideally without coffee and with something acidic.
Bit ring the midwife if you're fainting! If you're struggling you don't need to wait for your next appointment to call for help, and the midwife is the one to see in pregnancy.
