Opened up a Clearblue Digital test after having a negative result and have 3 lines! I have missed my period and have quite a lot of pregnancy symptoms.

They always have 3 lines when you break them apart, that means nothing. The only accurate result on these tests is what shows on the screen- negative.

Do you have a photo of it, assembled, taken within the timeframe?

It gave a not pregnant reading but I cracked it opened within the timeframe so it can’t be evap lines. I feel as though I am. The symptoms I’ve been having is way out of character for me too!

If you are late for your period then there should be a definite line.

I have seen a lot of people do this after a negative result and they have been pregnant which is why I thought I’d ask in case anyone here has been the same. My mother in law had negatives for the first 10 weeks of her pregnancy with my partner?! x

Id say no. If the digital says negative. Take that as a sign. These tests are supposed to be opened. They always have lines in them regardless of positive or negative.

You arent pregnant this month, it may be something else going on thats messed your cycle.

You'd expect to have a digital tell you that you are pregnant if you've missed your period and it seems like getting a feeling from what you've posted, maybe around 2 days? It would definitely come up strong by then.

Your MIL presumably was pregnant 20-30 years ago- tests have come a long way since then. If the digital says negative you are not pregnant.

Clearblue website says:

'But what if you got a negative result, and your period is late? Chances are you are not pregnant and your period may be late or you may even skip it due to stress or illness. If the test is negative and you didn’t test early, you may have missed your period* *if:

  • You’re breastfeeding
  • You’ve been ill
  • You have irregular periods (e.g., due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, often called PCOS)
  • You’ve been travelling
  • You’ve not been sleeping properly
  • You’ve been under very high stress
  • You’re on fertility medication
  • You haven’t had a period for months
  • You’re menopausal or peri-menopausal'

They recommend testing again 3 days after the start of your missed period if you're still unsure.

No you’re right they’re not evap lines. They are lines that are always there. I’ve taken one apart myself and it has 3 lines and I was not pregnant.

It’s possible you ovulated later and could still be pregnant but it’s just too early to show on a test. But the general rule is if you have enough hormones in your blood to cause symptoms you have enough to show on a test. Most tests are 10miu sensitivity. That’s very very early on in pregnancy. It’s unlikely (although not impossible) that you are pregnant.

These tests are not meant to be taken apart OP.
