Hi all, i am 14 weeks and 2 days and I was feeling really lazy and out of shape, finally got some energy back so I decided to do some yoga aimed at second trimester, I followed a practice on youtube aiming at only 10 mins as I wanted to start off slow. I did a closed twist (not full twist I slightly twisted) but now I am worried sick!! I read the comments saying it isn't advised in pregnancy, why would a yoga insructor have a video up if it wasn't safe??!

I’ve been doing yoga and partial twists throughout pregnancy. Baby should be absolutely fine.

If they worry you then just avoid them in future 😊

That's good to hear 🙂 I was getting my confidence back finally until I read the comments. So much scaremongering in terms of pregnancy!

They also scare monger you into not doing inversions but then everywhere tells you to do inversions to aid baby's positioning...
If it doesn't feel good, don't do whatever move, if it feels fine, continue on.
I do full twists and binds, lift heavy (children and weights and general bags of animal feed and plaster) and generally get on with life. The only thing I struggle with it being out of breath quicker... the two I have birthed have come out fine, albeit with attitude 😅

I wouldn't worry. Yoga is a great way to relax and keep fit during pregnancy as well as prepare for birth. I went to one pregnancy yoga class and found it too boring/slow so I've been doing my normal non-pregnancy dynamic vinyasa yoga class throughout with some adjustments to avoid lying on belly. In my third trimester now and still going strong.
Swimming is a fab alternative if you're concerned 🙂

I did yoga all the way through my first pregnancy. As I got bigger, I found that some poses (especially twists) weren’t possible or comfortable as my belly got in the way, and I avoided lying on my stomach after about 16 weeks (which is when I started to show). As with yoga practice generally, the best guide is how your body feels: if you’re having to force a pose, or it’s causing discomfort, then don’t do it!
