Small fibroid in pregnancy

Hi!

I had my dating scan on Friday and was told I have a small fibroid, only about 1cm and that they would just check it again at the 20 week scan.

Because this was an IVF pregnancy (frozen embryo transfer) I only had a scan 6 weeks prior to this and no fibroid then.

I gather this is quite common thought and just wondering whether anyone else has experience of fibroids in pregnancy? I guess I am a bit worried that it has appeared since my last scan 6 weeks ago, I’m wondering if it will grow quickly!

Hi! I think it is super common. I’ve had a fibroid during my first pregnancy and it is still here with my second. They told me that the fibroid is out of the way of both cervix and placenta and so of no concern. I think as long as there is no rapid growth and/or in the way then all is well. Only time will tell really but very unlikely to cause an issue in most pregnancies. Hopefully you’ll get the all clear during your 20 week scan.

Thank you for your reply! That’s good your fibroid was out of the way! I guess I just need to sit tight until the 20 weeks ago scan to find out more! X
