Progesterone

Hi,

I’m 43 and have just had a faint line on an early pregnancy test. I had two miscarriages last year (7 weeks and 5 weeks).
I’m keen to take progesterone but I’m only 4 weeks so EPU are reluctant to prescribe until a 6 week scan. The lady on the phone was lovely and is speaking to a consultant and is calling me back tomorrow so we will see.
I’m just looking at the options in the meantime, thinking about risking a private gynae consultant but worried they won’t prescribe either.
As a last resort I was looking at ordering online, has anyone else done this?

Thanks ☺️

Hi I'm on progesterone, I've had 3 losses - one at 19 weeks and two at 5 weeks. I was prescribed it from as soon as I got my positive test at 4 weeks but I believe this is probably down to the fact I had just had a private fertility appointment the month before and the consultant had sent a letter to my GP explaining if I was to become pregnant again I need to be on progesterone immediately. So the only thing I can suggest if you're worried is maybe make a private appointment, they will definitely prescribe! It cost me £250 for the appointment but this might be different in different areas. Good luck!

Hi @Pennyroses, thank you for your reply. I’m just a bit confused with who to make the private appointment with. Do you think a general gynae consultant would definitely prescribe or would it have to be a private fertility consultant?

Hmm I'm not sure. I just went to my local private fertility clinic as we were going to look at our options (IVF etc) before I found out I was pregnant. Maybe just have a Google of them in your area and give them a call and tell them your concerns? Good luck

@Pennyroses Thank you. We’ve been referred through our gp to a fertility clinic and have had our first appointment there. I think I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see if they do private appointments too. Thanks again 😊
