Flying at 21 weeks - did you prepare a pregnancy letter

Hi all, I have an upcoming holiday to Greece when I’ll be 20-21 weeks. Were you ever hassled by airline staff to provide documentation of how far along you were around this time? I’m not sure how my bump will look like in 4 weeks (barely visible now, 1st baby) but airline said it will be up to staff discretion to ask for evidence of how far along I am although their policy is no paperwork needed if less than 28 weeks. They said they may ask for paperwork anyway if looking heavily pregnant. I’ve emailed my midwife but they take a while to respond to non urgent queries and I’m not sure how long these paperwork take!

I did take one and was asked for it when flying back from Paris, it doesn’t take long at all to get the letter though

I didn't, but I also didn't look pregnant until 34+ weeks so nobody asked.

You could get a letter, or just wear baggy clothing.

I flew to Menorca last month, I was between 20-21 weeks when I flew out and 21 + 3 on the way back. I didn’t have a fit to fly as I checked the airlines policy and it said after 28 weeks. I did on my midwife’s advice have my notes in my hand luggage just in case anyone did ask for proof how far on I was (I’m plus size and baby no.2) ‘y midwife said the scan report is enough as it has current gestation and due date on. No-one ever asked but had them just in case.

The only thing that came up was the final passport/boarding pass check before the plane on the way out and person wrote on my boarding pass (bob = baby on board) he said they should of done it at check in just so they knew but I think it only really came up as he made a comment about how my little 3 year old is going to break hearts when he’s older and me stupidly saying “yeah and his little brother might too” cue the guy saying “oh your expecting, I just need to write it in your boarding pass etc etc”

I flew at 23 weeks and nobody batted an eyelid

Not to alarm you but have you had your 20 week scan yet? Mine showed a low lying placenta and I was advised not to fly (and to avoid various other things) for the rest of my pregnancy. This was 10 years ago though so not sure whether the advice is still the same!

Same, I was told never to be more than 20 minutes from a hospital, but I can’t imagine that’s very common. Definitely good to check insurance would cover this before that scan though!
