Reassure me that straining during a bowel movement won’t cause miscarriage?

Probably the most stupid post ever and it may sound ridiculous but I seen on a website that straining during a bowel movement can cause uterine contractions and miscarriage etc , and constipation build up can be toxic to baby in womb. I’m nearly 10 weeks and my constipation has been so bad. I got it all out today but with straining to the point it hurt my pelvis and abdomen . Have I done any damage ? I only had a scan yesterday and baby was fine .. with my first pregnancy I was the same but much much later on when I could feel her move but obviously being 10 weeks i don’t know if everything is okay

I had the exact same anxiety - as reassured by the midwife, it's really hard to do damage from straining for a poop. Also had the same issue with constipation around that time and increased my fibre which really helped. As did eating dried figs 😅 I'm now 17 weeks, 5th pregnancy after 4 losses, and seems to be ok so far 🤞

No it won't do anything except give you awful piles. So get on the daily Movicol now. Loads of water, fruits etc.

Nah you won't cause a miscarriage, otherwise I would have done myself some damage. On the prescribed laxatives now 😂👌

No ❤️

but you might get piles! Have lots of fibre!

Thank you everyone ! My main worry was the pain in my pelvis when I pushed / when it came out (tmi sorry🤣) pregnancy anxiety is evil 😭

I ended up in a&e with severe constipation during my pregnancy. The twins were fine. Laxido was the only thing that worked for me. Lactulose did absolutely nothing. I hope your pregnancy gets easier. Good luck

Sorry to ask but how did it result in a&e and what was it they did for you ? Was it because of being in pain ?

Not a silly question. This also worried me early on.

I would get going with some Movicol and loads of water ASAP xx
