Bump seems to have shrunk 16w to 17w

My bump seems to have become noticeably (to me) flatter between 16w and 17w ie I look less pregnant at 17w. Can’t go for an urgent scan because I’m abroad somewhere relatively remote, it would be complicated to arrange. I have a scan at 18w6d so about 2 weeks away but my anxiety is eating me up. Has this happened to anyone else?

I understand that not everyone has a bump at 16w but for it to be there at 16w and then disappear?!

To make it worse the baby wasn’t moving a huge amount at my 15w scan (I had one for reassurance just before going on holidays).

the photo where I am facing right (and have 17w written on the thigh) is 17w, the other photo is 16w.

Second pregnancy, second child.

Hi OP, I can't see any photos...

It says image under review so they’ll post it soon I guess

Could it simply be the way you're standing? Or maybe you'd had a heavy meal at the 16w photo....

Best of luck OP

Yes I guess it could… I’m not leaking any fluid but just looks so much smaller

This happened to me!!! It could be that a lot of your “bump” was bloat and now you’re further along it is just baby. That’s what my midwife said… anyway all okay and my son is now 2.5 :) good luck OP

Hi OP. I mentioned to my midwife yesterday that my bump (it’s barely noticeable though) seems to fluctuate and she said this is absolutely normal esp around my weeks of gestation. I’m currently 16 weeks. She said some of it is still bloating so can go up and down depending on lots of factors including what meal I had or even time of day apparently. I hope everything is all well. I guess if other symptoms are present then go to the local hospital which I hope you have even if it’s remote.

@Imnotsurewhattodobaby2@Ivf4203 that’s super reassuring to hear, thank you!!

My bump seems to depend on what I've eaten, how hydrated I am and what time of day it is, even how much exercise I've had. All normal by the sounds of it 👌

Hi @prgnt just wondered how you got on? I am also 16-17weeks and bump has deflated too

BudgetBuster · 10/10/2025 13:20

Pregnancy bloat is real and comes & goes!
Could depend on how.active you have been, what you've eaten, changing hormones etc.

I had a visible "bump" at 7/8 weeks pregnant so much so that people commented on my due date.. but after that the bloat went down and trimester 2 & 3 most people wouldn't even have known I was pregnant 😂
