Hello everyone ☺️

our little girl is due around the 20th of August. She has been measuring 22nd percentile in all scans with no worries. We had a scan yesterday and still the same percentile.

I will be having a c section at 39 weeks and just wondering how much she’ll weigh? She is likely to be on the smaller side and just wondering what clothes to pack for her ie size wise as 7lbs+ baby grows seem quite big?

Im packing her baby bag and just looking for some practical info on clothes for slightly smaller babies.

thank you 💓

If you track the 22nd percentile line on your chart to 38-39 weeks you see what weight they are likely to be around delivery.
Charts are based on your build. I'd expect you'd need clothing covering 6-7lb, potentially smaller. Remember if you pick the wrong size and it's still too big it will do for the first day and you can send someone to the nearest supermarket for alternatives!
I'm slight build and only 5ft2 my daughter was 60th percentile on my chart which was 6lb13 at 38+6 weeks. She went into Asda first size which has a size range of 6-9lb. Had she been a bit smaller ( roughly under 6.5lb) I think we would have had to get her some newborn/tiny baby clothes that went up to 7lb.

Thank you that’s super helpful. I hadn’t even thought about the chart I was given. No one has ever charted it but maybe that was up to me and not the hospital.
knowing that an outfit that’s a little larger is not a problem really helps, thank you.

Did they give you an estimated weight? My 37 week twins were somewhere in the 20’s for centile. They were born at 5’8 and 5’12. I had one pack of prem/tiny baby sleepsuits which they outgrew in the first week. Rest newborn.

I think you will be fine with newborn but might like to have one pack of prem, and bring one of each for right after the birth. You can always buy more if needed. But they won’t be long filling out newborn size either

DC1 was 6lb8oz & DC2 was 7lb at birth: size 0-3m worked fine for them until they were about 3m old.

My daughter measured small all the way through and was 5lbs 6oz at birth so would get some tiny baby sizes! 0-3 was massive on her for a while… ☺️

Mine measured on 20th, and has always gone along her 20th line she was 6lbs 3oz but she was tall so only stayed in the size below for an extra month.
Newborn fit her until about 4-6 weeks, then 0-3 size until she was about 4 months
She's now 8 and we've found we have to size up for length and take in all her clothes because nothing fits her waist still 😅

DS was 5 lb 9 oz. We went out and got him prem clothes until he fit the newborn.

My first was 5lb 13 born and dropped to 5lb 5. We needed early baby clothes. She didn’t go into newborn for weeks.

Thanks everyone, really helpful comments.
I think we’ll play it by ear and my husband can always pop to the shops and get prem clothes if needed.
i feel like I’m over thinking it x

I’ve had a 6lber (I seem to recall they were on the 9th centile I think but not sure) and an almost 8lber (about 50th centile). Both very long girls and both C-sections at 39weeks. Both took ages to fit 0-3 so I underestimated how many smaller sizes than this I’d need. I assumed you could use 0-3 from birth for average weights before I had my first baby. Not even my smallest baby would have fit in premature so I don’t think you’ll need those unless you go early. Just get plenty for babies around 7lb and up to 10lb/1 month etc. To be honest, it varies by shops.

All the best OP!
