Bleeding @ 6 weeks - experiences?

Tw - miscarriage, chemical pregnancy

Last friday i found out i was pregnant. This Sunday i was 6 weeks (based on last period) Woke up sat morning to a mix of red and pink blood - moderate enough to panic. It was like my period starting. This then turned into spotting on and off all day. I've gone to an out of hours where they've done few checks. I have blood in my urine and the pregnancy test they did is positive but is faint. Similar to the dye ones ive done. They've referred me to a team who will contact me this week to book in a scan but I actually had a 6 week early reassurance scan booked who managed to get me in Saturday. The ultrasound shows that my endometrial lining has thickened but theres nothing else there yet - which usually happens just before or around implantation bleeding. They've suggested this could be what is happening and that I'm actually 3-4, weeks not 6 weeks.
Yesterday I had bleeding again which was heavier than Saturday, and was more bright red than pink. I did the out of hours again and they found out ive got an appointment booked Tues afternoon with the early pregnancy assessment unit. Yesterday afternoon I did another test which said not pregnant. I assumed this meant ive had a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy, however woke up this morning to a positive. I am just SO confused about everything and I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar and what happened please.

So sorry you're going through this; it's really hard not knowing what's going on with your body.

I've had a few experiences of bleeding in pregnancy and always had it checked just in case. For the most part, it was light spotting, which can happen in early pregnancy and wasn't anything to worry about. I had a healthy toddler from this pregnancy, and thankfully, the spotting stopped after the 12-week mark.

Unfortunately I had an ectopic pregnancy at the end of last year, which involved cramping and period-like bleeding. I arranged a scan via my GP and found out it was ectopic. This is rare, but definitely worth having a scan if you're at all worried as it can be dangerous.

Wishing you all the best for your appointment on Tuesday X

I had this at 8 weeks and I got a scan, which detected a heartbeat, but I kept bleeding, so continued to worry. That 16 yo is currently hiding away in their bedroom on the phone. Good luck.

I had light bleeding which was more than spotting around 6 weeks. I went to Epu and they detected a heartbeat, but I kept bleeding that week though everytime it stopped after 2 hours. I had another scan to check a week later and it was okay. Finger crossed for you. By the way, at 6 weeks pregnancy tests are no good, as if you have too much Hcg it does affect the test. My test was fainter than when I was 4 weeks pregnant.

Personally I’d say all those things combined don’t bode well unfortunately. Obviously things can change but if I were you I’d be prepared for the fact you had a miscarriage. Yes sometimes tests can show negative or very faint when HCG is very high. But that’s not actually that common and that combined with not seeing anything on a scan doesn’t sound great I’m sorry.

This sounds like a blighted ovum to me sorry. The egg fertilises and there is a sac visible but nothing in it. The exact same thing happened to a friend and they scanned her every week to see if anything was happening. However she was sure of her dates and knew she should have been 9 weeks and not 4 like they were suggesting. They said 4 because nothing was visible in the sac. Her HCG continued to fluctuate on tests because the sac was growing but unfortunately there was never any development of the embryo and after 4 weeks of repeated scans they diagnosed her with a very early miscarriage and she had a D and C.

I didnt realise this - Should I stop relying on tests? Its so confusing, I understand i might have diluted the hcg but I assumed it would still be present the later in the pregnancy I am. Is this not accurate? Xx

This is what I'm preparing for - I'm expecting it to have been a miscarriage. Its all just so confusing and its the first time ive gone through anything like this so I feel so lost. Xx

Sorry @AquaTurtle12 it's a horrible place to be. I had heavy bleeding (no cramps) at 5/6 weeks but she is now 3yo and thriving. I have also had spotting that turned into heavy bleeding with cramps, and was an early miscarriage (twice). I never tested beyond 5 weeks before so no idea what the hCG tests would have suggested in any of those cases. I don't think any of us can offer clarity for you but we can empathise. I really hope you get some answers as soon as possible. Once you know what you're dealing with, even if sad news, you can begin to process it. I truly think the not knowing is the worst. Keep updating here.

I'd go for a scan in week 7 to be 100% sure.

TW Miscarriage

Just wanted to update, unfortunately it's a failed pregnancy & I'm miscarrying.
They've been supportive & because its my 2nd one they've said i could be referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic which I'm going to do as they can do genetic testing. They've also said next time I'm pregnant I can be referred to them and they can do earlier scans & checks to see if things are progressing as they should so I'm taking a positive from this, even though its heartbreaking.
Thank you to everyone for your responses 💗
