Contractions & Bloody Show

Hi Everyone, with my daughter i never got a bloody show so after some advice.

For two days i've had irregular PAINFUL contractions and just now a big blob of which i’m guessing is my bloody show just came out after my last contraction.

How soon did you guys get real labour/contractions/waters breaking?

I’m due to be induced Wednesday so i’m hoping something happens today/tomorrow beforehand!!

I am 41 +2 so hoping this isn’t the case for me 😅🙈

I had been having what I thought was Braxton Hicks all morning from 7am but they were getting more intense as the day went on. I came home and as I was running a bath I had a bloody show. That was at 12:26pm we made it to the hospital by 3:03pm and baby was here at 4:45pm! Fingers crossed that you get some movement today 🤞🏻🍀 Try walking as much as you can 💕Good luck!
Ps. It was my first baby, and I was 38w+4

Hopefully it will be quicker, DS was still born before his due date and I was still fed up. Hopefully things get moving soon!

They didn’t last very long and at first they were just dull period like pains but then throughout the morning they got stronger and maybe every 15 mins but only lasted 10seconds. Until it ramped up to every 2 mins but only lasting 30 seconds. I didn’t know what to do because the hospital said when they last 1 minute and are every 5 minutes. They didn’t last 1 minute but they were only 2 mins apart so I went to hospital and she was here in no time at all. Trust your gut and don’t hesitate to get in touch with your healthcare team 💓

Contractions are lasting a minute every 8 minutes now but i can’t walk them off, i stand there shaking and the pain is unbearable, is this normal???? WTH

Is baby moving as normal? Have ypu lost any of your waters?

LaTable · 28/07/2025 16:55

I was under the impression, from being told by midwives, that a bloody show and a mucus plug are very different things.
I never had regular contractions and could talk through all of them so miswives never believed i was in active labour, birth was however fast. So always had to be forceful when telling them I was coming in.
Second waters didn't break until the push before she was out

Sounds like you're in labour op, I would suggest getting off mn and getting into whereever you have chosen to birth and in touch with actual midwives.
Good luck!

I’ve spoke to the midwife’s, they won’t have me in unless i’m bleeding fresh blood or contractions are closer together 😔

Ooh this is it!!! How exciting! Not being able to walk through the contractions, totally normal. I physically couldn’t do it. My feet would not go one in front of the other, but between them I was waddling about! Let gravity do some work for you and save your energy for the big finale! Try to stay calm, if you get overly stressed the contractions can slow down, so have a cuppa and get the telly on, breathe and enjoy these last moments as a pregnant lady! 🤗💓💓Oh and update us when you can xx

MigGril · 28/07/2025 18:17

My waters only went with DD just before birth so I was already fully dilated. They tried to break my waters with DS as was in to be induced, but his head was firmly in the way and they broke the membranes but no actual leaking. Ie your waters don't always break in early labour.

Ttcmumma · 28/07/2025 20:39

With my first no show just waters bursting at 37+5 after some mild contractions for approx 30-60 mins. With my second i lost my mucus plug around 8am, contractions started around 11, waters burst at 12 was in hospital by 4 and she was born at 9:09😊

GirlMumxx · 28/07/2025 21:01

Well i’m 6cm!! so they’re keeping me in - proof that irregular contractions are true labour !!! for anyone who is interested or going through it haha

Where2GoNext · 28/07/2025 21:25

Aw well done OP!!

I had irregular contractions throughout both my labours, I think cause both kids heads were at a funny angle, but they were both smoothish labours.

Hope your baby is here very soon!!

ninjahamster · 28/07/2025 21:25
