Exercise plans in Pregnancy ?

Currently 7w pregnant, eating a lot already, don't exercise that much and it's mainly mild cardio and zero weight training. So I need a plan.

I don't know enough about safe or unsafe exercises to go to the gym by myself and there's not many pregnancy-fitness options in my area.

So looking for online/app suggestions. I know there's loads on YouTube but I just feel lost with so much choice.

Is there an indoor pool nearby - you could try water based exercises? Not just swimming - get a pool noodle under your arms or between your legs and paddle up and down. Walking is another good option, and its low cost. If you want company and can afford it, join a gym and a trainer can help choose appropriate exercises. There's also yoga or pilates - your instructors will have plenty of options for you. Do something that you will enjoy and look forward to. Don't worry about the type of exercise, as long as you are doing something.

Bumps, Bairns and Buggies on Facebook is local
to me, and does classes but also an online based group.

Everything has modifications offered for different levels of fitness and pre / post natal. There’s a wee bit of the extra content that won’t mean anything to you as its suggestions for activities around our area but the exercise stuff all works anywhere. And she’s great on responding to messages with queries etc because it’s a small group.

Motherfit- the app is brilliant and wasn’t too pricey includes postnatal too!

Bodyfit by Amy on you tube has loads of pregnancy videos!! I did a mixture of both of these but mother fit has them scheduled out for you if you wanted to follow it!!

It's not advisable to start any intense exercise during pregnancy if it's not something you did pre-pregnancy. Yoga and pilates feels amazing during pregnancy, walking or swimming would feel good too.

Thank you all, I shall look at those options 😊

I don't intend to do anything completely new or too intense, but I do feel I need to do some exercise.

Bumps & Burpees on Instagram is brilliant - she does plans for during/post pregnancy that you can sign up to, and there's also a book you can buy with recommended exercises for each trimester.

I recommend dancing :)
Did some ballroom classes with DH and it was so much fun. Samba or Zumba could be good too, just make sure you're not pushing too hard.

@SunsetVibe Tbh, the best exercise you can probably do - if you don't do much exercise right now - is to go out for a walk for 30 mins a day if that's something that you can do. The fresh air/outdoors is good for your mental health and going away from home means you have to come back again (so motivation!). I found antenatal yoga was a bit boring but gave me a chance to stop my brain and stretch, so recommend that.

Heads up that I intended to do exercise during my pregnancy and honestly the first trimester knocked me for six. I spent most of it completely horizontal trying not to vomit. (I was running 5k three times a week before I was pregnant so it was a shock.) So be extra kind to yourself!!
