Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has had 4 or more c sections and what was their experience? Also did you get sterilised during your c section? Did it prolong recovery? Thank you.

Hello!

I had four caesarean sections.
The recovery after each was the same (awful and painful). It wasn't worse the more I had IYSWIM. They were all ghastly.

I was sterilised six months later as a day case.

Thank you for replying :)

Yes the recovery does suck doesn't it. I found my 3rd easier than my 1st and 2nd. I was just curious about a 4th.

I didn't know they would sterilise you 6 months later.

I’ve had 4. I had 4 in 6 years actually. Recovery was ok tbh. I came home on day 2 each time (bar section 1 as DD1 lost too much weight). I was driving 2 weeks after section 4.

Oh was sterilised at same time as sectionn4 too.

Aww fair play to you, 4 in 6 years! How was the sterilisation? Thank you

Honestly knew nothing about it as it was done at the same time as my section!

Yes, lots of doctors don't do it at the same time as the CS (in case the baby dies, and you want another one).

If you do get sterilised during the CS procedure, however, your recovery will not be any different. The sterilisation is so minor.

When I had it done myself, DS was six months old. I needed a couple of days to recover from the anaesthetic, but the pain wasn't much at all. I just took some Co-Codamol once or twice.

I've had 4. They all went the same. They said my uterus was a bit thin during my 4th but very little adhesions which they were surprised about. Recovery was the same apart from the wound not healing as well but I think that was more to do with my larger overhang this time. I chose not to be sterilised because DH is getting a vasectomy but regretting it now because the waiting list is long!
