Just curious what happens with the consultant app, this will be my first pregnancy as a “geriatric” mother and I’m being sent to my main hospital and under a consultant due to age.

I'm consultant led for my 2nd pregnancy due to age and other factors from my first pregnancy.
My 1st consultant appointment was basically the same as a midwife appointment.
It was at 16 weeks.
I saw a midwife first who did a urine test, blood pressure, weight and height. Asked how I was, made a few notes.
Was then sent in to see the consultant who asked the same questions. Asked what happened in my first pregnancy and why I was under his care. He made a few notes, said my blood pressure was a bit high so ordered additional blood tests and monitoring in maternity triage immediately.
Tried to find babys heartbeat and couldnt, then sent me on my way.
Effectively it was the same as a midwife appointment.

I guess theyre there to go over risk factors from any tests you have and make plans for the birth and close monitoring if needed.
So far ive had 2 consultant appointments and im 30 weeks. No plans for the birth have been made yet.
