Ultrasound Inconclusive

Hi
I had an ultrasound at what should be 6 weeks + 0. SCAN gave estimating for 4 + 5 as 3.8cm gestational sack and no fetal pole.

I'm pretty convinced my odds are low, would be great to hear from someone with a similar situation. I want to be as prepared as possible. They said wait 2 weeks but why can't I rescan in one week as it it's not grown surely that says everything.

I could be a few days off on my dates but I had a BFP on what I believed to be 10 dpo so I am not sure it can be much more ott?

I had this with both my pregnancies due to bleeding very early on. Both times it was deemed inconclusive and I had to wait for 2 weeks. It was agonising but they told me that they needed 2 weeks to confirm because one week often didn’t show enough growth/heartbeat. In my second pregnancy, they saw 2 potential pregnancies at that early scan (approx 4/5 weeks) but two weeks later, there was just one. They said it may not have ever been anything…
Don’t lose hope and I wish you lots of luck. The wait is awful - one day at a time x

Sorry, I should have added that for both of mine they saw a sac but no pole. Both were healthy pregnancies thankfully.

Was it an internal scan?

For me every time I’ve measured behind it’s been bad news. Especially when I was sure of my dates. But plenty of others will have better outcomes I’m sure.

I think they suggest 2 weeks because IF you are only 4.5 (which I know you said is unlikely) then at 5.5 you still might not see a heartbeat etc. Waiting until 6.5 would be much more likely to determine viability. I guess thought there’s nothing to stop you booking a private scan in one week to check.

I had a 6 week scan (due to bleed) that showed yolk and gestational sack, I had to be rescanned, but I just knew that I was meant to see a flicker by then. My scan was just over 6 weeks, so it was even more sure, and I knew exactly when we'd dtd for ovulation as I'd been working away. I gathered many stories online with both positive and negative outcomes, someone on reddit told me 'guard your heart' and I kept that with me. In the end I had to wait till 10 weeks for my body to recognise the loss. I really hope yours is one of the positive stories, it really could be either.

Update did another private scan 4 days later grown from 3.8mm to 7.4mm but still only just a yolk sac. Awaiting EPU scan in 4 more days and will update the outcome.
