Is labour near?

hello, just wondering if any of this sounds like labour could be near. I’m booked for an induction on Friday and had my first sweep yesterday, midwife said she was surprised that I’m around 2cm dilated, thin cervix and baby’s head is very low not much happened after the sweep and it’s nearly been the 24hrs although I did just have a small amount of jelly discharge which I assume to be part of my mucus plug and I’ve had some slight cramping but nothing painful and I’m 38w5d this is my first baby. Is 2cm good at this stage? Does this sounds positive or could I still be a while away would rather not be induced if I don’t have to.
thanks xx

Some of the signs are there but there’s literally no way of knowing until it actually happens!

Why are you having a sweep so early? I know it’s hard but just let nature take its course, trying to hurry a baby along often doesn’t end well.

So patronising! Maybe OP has reasons for this. The condescending comments are pointless

It’s not patronising, it’s a genuine question & in my area they won’t offer sweeps until 40 weeks full stop. Stop projecting.
