Preparing body to give birth as close to EDD as possible

Hello all,

I have a week to go to my estimated due date and want to know what I can do to prepare my body to give birth in the last week - I was thinking bouncing more on my birth ball, eating pineapple every night, trying to move more eg up and down the stairs, trying to meditate on my baby imagining her preparing herself for the journey down and out (!!)...

Any tips?

Obviously I know my baby will come in her own good time and may therefore come late (my first baby) but anything I can do to help it along... :-)

Visualise rose petals opening and talk to your baby. Do affirmations and then do all the conventional stuff but I believe remaining relaxed will help things more than anything, it is only an estimate on the due date, as you said, baba will arrive when she chooses! Oh and unplug the phone so you don't get all those annoying calls asking if you've gone into labour yet!

Why do you want to have baby close to EDD? its just an estimate -as you say baby will come in its own good time

Drink Raspberry leaf tea, a bit gross though

Long stompy walks, then a sit down with raspberry leaf tea, that's what I did and DS came one week early.

Hi nervousal: Basically the closer I am to my EDD the less likely hospital will be able to persuade me to have an induction and the more likely I will be able to have my first choice of a natural/water birth.

Lovely advice about rose petals and affirmations - will definitely add that to the list to encourage my baby to think about meetin g me in the flesh :-)

Sorry but IMHO theres not much you can do to speed things up.

My first was 15 days early so I thought the second would at least be on time, I took 6 RLTs a day from 34 weeks, did all the usual pineapple/curry/sex/walks/bouncing on ball/reflexology/aromatherapy and nothing shifted her, she finally decided to grace her with her presence at 12 days overdue.

I ate a whole pineapple the night before, and DH had a very sweet talk with lo asking her to come that night, and she did! xx 1 week early xx
