Hi.

Anxious following 2 miscarriages in the last year and feeling a bit baffled.

Had first IVF round which started in May. Pregnancy test was 1st July which was negative - failed cycle. Period started next day and bled until 6th July - normal period for me.

Ovulation due this week so on Tuesday 15th took an ovulation test which was very dark. Took another on Thursday 17th also very dark which was odd. Took a pregnancy test and it has come up positive?!

So either IVF didn’t fail and it’s a very late positive or somehow I ovulated straight after my period.

IVF clinic have just said to wait and see if my period starts in a week or so and call back… They seem to think it’s more likely an early positive than IVF transfer.

Just really confused and worried that if it is the embryo transfer it can’f be viable so will just miscarry again. Just wondered if anyone has has anything similar?

When image is approved my 2 tests - easy@home was Thursdays test and other this morning - both FMU.

I also have no pregnancy symptoms which I did with my two pregnancies which ended in miscarriage which makes it more confusing.

I worry the lines are too dark for an early positive which would only be 11/12 dpo if I did ovulate straight after my period.

The strength of the line suggests that it’s not a super early positive imo. Possible that what you thought was a period was implantation bleeding and actually you are pregnant? Could you go for an early scan to be sure?

Newusernames · 18/07/2025 14:38

Thanks for replying. It felt like a normal period for me and if that is the case I would also expect a stronger line from the transfer which is partly why we are so confused.

IVF clinic won’t scan until i’ve missed a period so in limbo for a little while which is really hard.

That is a really strong positive. That definitely looks further along than 11/12 dpo.

Could you get a digital test which will tell you how far along you are? My guess would be that it will say ‘3+’. That really is a strong line.

Please update us! I’m really invested!

I will do.

I’ve not heard positive stories from those who test positive late after embryo transfers but it feels like the most likely option.

That Easy@home test looks like mine did at 6 weeks pregnant plus... They don't get much darker than that and I know I'm a obsessive tester... They looked like that 6-8 weeks for me before I stopped. Way too dark for 11/12 dpo when some are barely visible. I would defo say it's from your transfer. Can you get a scan at EPU or a private scan?

LoveaCaramelLatte · 18/07/2025 18:45

Hey!

I checked my easy home test record as well. The last one I did was 18dpo and it wasn't as dark as the one you have there so I'd say your over 20 dpo. Although I've heard multiples can be darker (was it just one embryo?)

How heavy are your periods normally? I had heavy implantation bleeding which was only slightly lighter than a normal period but my periods were quite light since coming off the pill. I don't know if I would have noticed it being lighter if I hadn't been looking for it.

Wishing you lots of luck with this.

Newusernames · 18/07/2025 18:54

Thanks all.

Yes just one embryo. I think you are right and it’s most likely the transfer.

I’ve picked up a digital test which i’ll do in the morning and then contact clinic again and see if they have any further advice if it’s more likely the transfer.

Feeling quite gutted as testing positive now likely means slow rising hcg/growth which is what happened in our last miscarriage so not hopeful.

This might be our third miscarriage so hopefully we might get some additional tests to work out what is going wrong.

How many weeks would you be if the IVF had worked? I agree that the look of the line suggests 6+ weeks. If you get a 3+ on CB that will need 2,750 miu HCG (which I got on 26dpo).

Piesareus · 18/07/2025 19:48

Definitely agree those lines are not an early positive. I don’t think it necessarily means anything bad about your pregnancy, I really hope it’s all fine for you. I would be booking straight in for a private scan tomorrow if I were you, but then I’m very impatient!
Not wanting to plant any more worry in your mind and it’s likely not this, but could it be possible that it’s ectopic? Just that would explain being able to have a full bleed and keep the pregnancy going…
probably worth getting a scan asap

lemonyfox · 18/07/2025 20:04

Another one to suggest I’d be ruling out an ectopic if I were you. I’ve had 3 of them, and I had full “normal” periods with mine following a negative test and then slow rising HCG post-period.

Newusernames · 19/07/2025 08:16

So digital says pregnant 2-3 so I am even more confused…

Going to message clinic today and let them know that we think transfer did work but that we are concerned about ectopic pregnancy and hopefully they will get us in for a scan or direct us to EPU.

Sounds a good plan OP, as you’d be about 6.5 weeks now wouldn’t you? By which point you’d definitely expect to trigger the 3+, so good to rule out an ectopic….

Piesareus · 20/07/2025 20:10

Please update us! Hope all is well
