16 week NHS Scan?

I have a 16 weeks NHS scan tomorrow, I’m not sure what to expect. Has anyone had this before and do you know what will be checked?

I believe it’s because I had a higher chance Down’s syndrome result from my combined screening (1 in 60) but I’m not 100% sure. If anyone has had a 16 week scan, have they been told the gender? We would like to find out if we can.

I live abroad and had a scan once a month. At 16 weeks they were able to say the gender and also did some anatomy checks. They couldn’t do all the checks done at the 20 weeks scan as not all structures are big enough.

We had a 16 week scan after higher risk combined screening and yes, we did find out the gender. The doctor said he might not be able to tell but in the event it was pretty obvious (we had a boy)

If they are doing an extra scan I can’t imagine they will want to spend that time looking for the gender unless they are nice or can see anyway.

Thanks for this, was it with a sonographer or a consultant? The screening midwife did say they may tell me as I asked if I would find out the gender from the NIPT, she said NHS doesn’t fund the gender part of the NIPT but might be able to find out this scan.

An update on this, the consultant and doctor doing the scan were lovely and very thorough, they spent a good 15 mins looking for the gender but couldn’t tell unfortunately!
