hi! some back story:
i have recently only just started dating this guy. for like a little over a month, nothing bad on the guy: he is so lovely!! he doesnt mind the fact I am a single mom, infact he likes that im so independent. okay im getting off topic.
we had a weekend away to a hotel, spent time together and we of course slept together. one of the nights we drank at the bar. we got very drunk, and I cant remember using a condom. he doesnt think we did either, this happened the 4th of july and the 5th of july, my last period was the 15th of June I am now 2 late on my period, I am usually so ON TIME for my periods. how long should I wait before I test? I tried all of 11th of july and 14th and it was all negative but of course I had sex so recently it wouldn't have chance to implant.

You're already two days late you don't need to wait to test.

CrappyBottle · 17/07/2025 07:45

Most people will get a positive test when their period is due. The majority of people get a positive test around 12 days past ovulation really. So testing now is fine.
In some rarer cases some people take a while longer to test positive but the general rule would be 2 weeks after sex/ovulation you’d expect a positive.

I know someone who conceived very early into a new relationship. Gave birth, conceived quickly again, this time twins. Ended up with 3 tiny children.

You barely know this guy. A month is too soon for him to meet your existing child, never mind having another one with him.

Why didn’t you get an emergency contraceptive pill?

ColinCaterpillarsNo1Fan · 17/07/2025 10:13

Once you establish that you're not pregnant, both of you need to use long term contraception. He needs to use a condom to protect you both from STD's as well as pregnancy. You need to go on the pill, coil or something more long term.

Don't play Russian roulette with pregnancy and then use abortion as a method of contraception. Contraception needs to be the first thing you discuss before you sleep together.

Are you actually pregnant though? You said you’ve been getting negative tests. If you ovulated on 4/5 July when you had unprotected sex that’s actually quite late in your cycle to ovulate (although not impossible of course) if you were due on 15th July. Do you normally have a shorter lutual phase/late ovulation do you know? I’d just take another test. If it’s still negative it’s unlikely (but again not impossible) you’re pregnant.
