help understanding an ultrasound

hi all!

i recently had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago. we have been trying again but still haven't had my first period yet. i know i ovulated the 3rd week after my miscarriage and we have been active during that week. i went in for my 4 week check up. i know its really early for the doctor to see anything if i am pregnant. the doctor said my period looks like it will come soon.

does that mean the doctor could see that in fact i ovulated? am i out this month or is there still a chance?? i have done a pregnancy test. it is positive but it could also be remains hcg from the miscarriage still.

thoughts?? advise please

It's hard to know exactly what the doctor meant, but often it means that the womb lining is thick (which happens as it builds up before the period, but it also remains thick for implantation if you're pregnant)

I would do another pregnancy test in the next 1-2 days and contact the EPU if it's as dark or darker so that they can work out if it's a new pregnancy

thank you. Thats what i thought .I had a d&c done in June so i took that as good news that my lining has thickened. i will retest again and see. Its a waiting game so who knows

I was asked to do a pregnancy test 3 weeks after my d and c (22nd june 2025)
It was blazing positive, so i called EPAU and they got me in for a scan. There was no RPOC seen at scan (I was 6 weeks 2 days when baby stopped growing - and 8 weeks 3 days when I had d and c)
They did a HCG that day (15th July) and I got a result of 47.
Having another hcg tomorrow as yes I had unprotected sex during this window so they think it maybe a new early pregnancy atm.

Did you not do a 3 week post miscarriage test?
And if i were you I would definitely call EPAU if they have a direct phone line, they can get you straight in to be tested, albeit I am none the wiser to what is happening at this very moment!
But it saves the worry!
If there is no RPOC on scan, its unlikely to be residue hormones - unless you were further along. Mine was a mmc and my body had started to recognise it.

This is my understanding at present! I could be wrong but me and ChatGP have been debating this same situation for a few days! X

I did a blood test on Monday and it came back at 14.37 hcg level.
I don't expect it to be high as I think ovulated a bit later on in my cycle as i still had bleeding/spotting from d&c until 2 weeks and 3 days. I had 2 positive ovulation tests on the 3rd week .
I am going back today for blood work again to see if levels have gone up or not.
