Failed glucose test but low bloods at home

I failed my glucose test on Friday. The limit was 7.8 and I came back at 7.9 after the 2hr mark.

I’ve been testing my blood sugars at home 5 times a day and consistently keep getting low results or hypos. I haven’t changed my diet. My results average between 3.5 and 5.9. The highest being 1 hr after a meal.

Anyone else had this? Should I reach out to the diabetic nurse?

That's great news your capillary blood glucose normal. There is no need to tell anyone but do contact the nurse if it reassures you. Being pregnant and having gestational diabetes is scarey.
You may need a stricter diet or medication as your baby grows so enjoy this while you can

It's quite common for people to have a high result after the glucose drink and not after meals when being diagnosed especially if they eat low GI meals (more fat/protein/ fiber than carbs). The drink is purely sugar so is enough to spike it and although it is only slightly over, the point is it shouldn't be even after drinking what is essentially pure sugar - your pancreas has had 2 hours to get in bacn to where is should be and it hasnt. GD is also progressive and tends to get worse as pregnancy moves along so its best to keep checking readings. I found on an almost weekly basis something I could tolerate well would lead to high blood sugar the next day. On the off chance it was an incorrect diagnosis it would become apparent over time but it is very rare for this to happen.

The gestational diabetes UK website is a great source of knowledge and there is also a Facebook page you can join as well. Best of luck tk you with everything!
