Hi all this is my first post and iv come here from reading some positive threads hoping mine will be the same.
on Friday I had my 12 week dating scan I was 13 weeks and 1 day (I’m in the UK) Everything was fine with baby except a NT measurement of 4.6. We were then taken for blood tests and to Fetal medicine to discuss the next steps. As I want to be sure what’s going on I have opted for the cvs test hopefully this Thursday if they can fit me in. But just looking for reassurance has anyone else had a reading this high and gone on to have a healthy baby? It’s my second and my first pregnancy was plain sailing so was shocked on Friday to receive this news. I’m 35 but have no health issues. The worry is consuming me.

Hiya. This was our situation (measurement of 4.5mm). Our screening results came back as a 1in3 for DS. Had the cvs and all came back clear. We were monitored by fetal medicine throughout pregnancy and all was fine. We now have a beautiful, perfect 4 month old baby boy.

Dont want to give false hope, but situations like these can have happy endings too. Message me if you have any other questions ☺️ Best of luck x

Yes, with my first pregnancy we had a measurement of 4.6mm. I also opted for the CVS which came back clear and then had extra monitoring until (I think) 32 weeks. We now have a very healthy 6 year old racing around the house.

Good luck ❤️

Hiya so my friend had 4.5mm and was absolutely fine and now has a healthy one year old. I sadly had 6.6mm in may this year and the result was not good in the end :( but I believe around 4mm u do have much higher chance than I did. Good luck xx

Thank you! I’m currently pregnant again so fingers crossed. It is my third pregnancy and like you was a shock as had two easy pregnancies before. I’m sure you will be fine as you are around 4mm. You will be offered the needle into the placenta and that can give you 99.9% answers x

ThatAmberSloth · 14/07/2025 14:09

Aww congratulations I hope it’s all going smoothly for you this time. Thank you, just had the hospital call to confirm cvs this Thursday so one step closer to answers x

Hi said I would update you, just had the cvs wow that was more intense that I was expecting 🙈 blood test came back as 1 in 176 for downs and 1 in 2244 for Edwards and pataus. Which is slightly promising as they estimated much lower numbers. Now we wait for the results. The dr measured the NT level again but this time from above and was 3.5 however I’m 14 weeks and normally they don’t measure beyond 13 +6 so not sure what to think of that x

Oh fingers crossed for you! That does sound like good news so far! Was it painful? I never got as far as the cvs as her heart stopped by the time we went for it x

ThatAmberSloth · 17/07/2025 19:50

Thank you, oh that’s awful I’m so sorry. It was just uncomfortable and a lot of pressure I wasn’t expecting but over within a minute. Yes trying to stay positive x

Another update as promised, the rapid results from the cvs scan came back all clear for downs, Edwards and pataus syndrome. Such a relief now just got to wait for the microarray which should take 10 days and then if that’s clear a heart scan at 18 weeks. We also found out we are having a boy 💙

That's amazing news, congratulations 💕Fingers crossed the other results are clear and you can relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

RT1620 · 22/07/2025 06:27

Aww congrats 🩵

ThatAmberSloth · 07/08/2025 13:53

Possibly my final update and it’s a great one 😊 microarray came back from the cvs as clear and no abnormalities. Today we had Fetal heart scan (I’m 17 weeks) and no abnormalities were picked up, baby’s heart looked completely fine. I really hope if anyone is going through this they find this thread just like I found many others and can find comfort that a high nt can still have a positive outcome 🥰 we have an early scan next week with Fetal medicine to check baby’s measurements and then fingers crossed are back on a normal pathway. Thank you for all your lovely comments they really helped to keep me positive over these past few stressful weeks x
