Fentimans lemonade…

went out for dinner tonight and had Fentimans Raspberry Lemonade. Had about 100mls of it before I decided I didn’t like it anyway but I randomly googled it (for a completely different reason was talking about calories with husband) and it says on the fentimans website their soft drinks contain 0.5% alcohol???
I had no idea.. since it’s a soft drink? But I am 35 weeks pregnant and am now stressing about this as I’ve not touched, and wouldn’t ever touch, alcohol during pregnancy! It says it’s to do with the fermenting of an ingredient?

is this something to worry about? Like I said only drank around 100mls?

Nope. Nothing to worry about.

MrsBucketHat · 12/07/2025 22:15

No need to worry at all!

DetoxedAlcoholic · 12/07/2025 22:18

Please do not worry 😂. Bananas, bread, vinegars and other soft drinks can contain the same amount. I know I don't have the most comforting user name but rest assured ex-alcoholics feel safe having that alcohol level. You're fine.

0.5% is the same as a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, a burger bun or a ripe banana! It is very very low alcohol

can you link to that information?
the ginger beer has both an alcohol and non alcohol version.
the raspberry lemonade does not appear to have any alcohol.

This is what their website says

‘While the alcohol content of our soft drinks and mixers does not exceed 0.5%, we would always advise that consumers check with their GP on what to eat and drink while pregnant.’

zero mention on the .com site
for all other than the ginger beer which comes in two versions

Up to 0.5% is considered acceptable for a drink to be classed as alcohol free if it's an alternative like beer. As PPs have said, it's the same amount as you'd naturally find in many other food and drink items. I drank many AF drinks through my pregnancy and I'm currently nursing my perfect, thriving one month old baby.

And honestly, even if you'd had 100ml of actual alcohol (say a 13.5% glass of wine), the likelihood that it would have any impact whatsoever on your baby is immensely slim. The stress and anxiety you're feeling, especially when you're so close to full term, could be more impactful. The fact you're checking the ingredients of a lemonade drink at 35 weeks pregnant suggests this isn't the first time you've had anxiety about what you're consuming? I really wouldn't give it a second thought.

Is this a joke?
