Hi looking for some advice/experience of others going through something similar to us.
we are overwhelmed and very nervous.
we have just received out screening results and have been given a 1 in 5 chance of Downs Syndrome. I have opted to go straight for a CVS test to get a true diagnosis but I’m scare of everything to come.
does anyone have any experience, results they would be happy to share on both there screen, their choices after and experience of the CVS procedure. Trying to be positive but also realistic of what’s to come.
thanks in advance- I’m 31 and this is my first baby

I'm sorry you're going through this, and can only imagine how stressful this must be. My only advice is that I've seen SO many stories of people being given scary odds (1 in 3 etc) where later tests show the baby to be unaffected. At 1 in 5, the odds of the baby being unaffected are still very much in your favour 💕

Thankyou so much, still waiting on the call to arrange my appointment, I think the wait is the worst part of it all.
I am trying to remain positive and just like you said I have read other stories of people in a similar situation where results have come back perfectly fine in the end

Just incase anyone else is in a similar situation now or in years to come and looking for support like I was. We ended up having to wait for amniocentesis as they couldn’t access my placenta, pushing finding out to another week later. We went in for he amniocentesis on the Tuesday, it wasn’t a pleasant experience but it wasn’t as painful as I expected and was over very quickly - I had very little side affects afterwards but did take it easy. It was a nervous wait for the phone call with results which we received on Friday. It was a huge relief to find out our results were all normal, we were also able to find out we were having a little boy. To anyone in a similar situation it is awful but there is a lot of hope, the screening is just screening and from what I have read there have been many people just like me with very high changes go on to receive normal results
