To TTC or wait? Not sure what to do

Hi, posting here for some viewpoints. I currently have a 20 month old DD and am very broody/would like to ttc immediately. The only thing stopping me is that we are due to marry at the end of September and if I was to be lucky enough to fall pregnant quickly, I would be experiencing 1st trimester symptoms during my wedding. I had horrible sickness with DD that did subside at 20 weeks, but I’m still worried. We are only having a small wedding/family only so there isn’t any pressure, but I want to enjoy the day.

On the other hand I really, really want another baby 🙃, my broodiness is off the scale. On discussing it with a friend her view was that I should crack on as it could take a while anyway. I’m 31 so don’t think she is a factor and I got pregnant with DD on the third cycle. DP is happy to be guided by me. What would you do?!

It's only a few months, I'd definitely wait!

Familyproblems2 · 12/07/2025 14:42

No brainer, wait until wedding is out the way. Its like 2 months.

cannynotsay · 12/07/2025 14:44

It’s not even a thing, just wait. It could ruin your wedding day, first trimester is horrible

WaltzingWaters · 12/07/2025 14:46

It’s not long to wait and you’re not in a rush due to age. I’d definitely wait. I had a fairly easy pregnancy with DS1 but it’s been much harder this time round with more sickness and a lot more exhaustion (guess that’s just standard with looking after a toddler too, and my toddler is fairly chilled and sleeps through the night). There were many days when I really wouldn’t have felt up to even attending someone else’s wedding, let along being the centre of attention and being the bride! I wouldn’t have enjoyed it. It’s just a couple months to wait.

Thanks all, I know you are all talking sense and it’s only a couple of months to wait. I feel like the broodiness is bursting out of me at the moment! 🤣 I am dreading pregnancy with a toddler in tow as I found it difficult enough last time, but i so want another one.

Who wants to be pregnant on their wedding day? It’s 2 months away. Start on your wedding night.

InvisibleDragon · 12/07/2025 15:23

Definitely wait. Imagine if you had a miscarriage right before your wedding - it would be really awful.

Superscientist · 12/07/2025 16:01

Start taking your folic acid and get ready to ttc then start after the wedding. It's 2 months not 2 years!
It took me 8 months to change meds to conceive, then I had 2 miscarriages and am not 29 weeks. So it's been near 2 years since we first discussed ttc a second, it being 2 years and 2 months wouldn't have made a huge difference. I could have started TTC earlier but my health wasn't ready. I had hyperemesis with my two miscarriages and could barely move from the sofa definitely not the vibe I'd want on my wedding day! But yes get your ducks in a row ready to start afterwards!

I got married in September at 4 months pregnant and it was fine but then again I was only sick twice.

But then if youre being logical and already dreading pregnancy, wouldn't that be quite a lot worse having a wedding when being pregnant too?!

ShyCrab · 12/07/2025 17:05

You are all right, I’ve wanted another one since my DD turned 1 so it does play on my mind every month that I’m not pregnant, but 2 months is no time at all to wait.
