has anyone tried it? Bought it today as an alternative to normal tea and can't see any side effects on their website. Just wonderinbg if anyone had any info to the contrary? ta .

It's rank

hattyyellow · 26/05/2008 15:08

I tried to give up caffeine a few years ago and tried redbush tea.

Never really got to grips with the taste, it's a bit rank. The worst are the flavoured blends ie red bush earlgrey - that's just horrible.

I love it - drank tons of this while pregnant. As far as i know it's fine.

Don't put milk in it though, and it tastes nicer with filtered/bottled water if you can be bothered.

And yes, stick with the 'original' blends!

I adore redbush tea!!!! Especially the Earl Grey one! (and I have drunk it right through pregnancy - it's really good for you I think)

I always drink it with milk, just like ordinary tea. But don't put the milk in till you've taken the bag out or it will taste revolting (don't know why, but that's a sure-fire way of ruining a cup)

Well, if you hate it, you've only wasted about £3 haven't you

PixelHerder · 26/05/2008 15:12

oh yes and if you drink it without milk, don't leave the teabag in for very long, a five second swirl is enough I find or it goes too stewed.

just having my first cup... interesting, might be an acquired taste i think. it's quite strong but milky though. maybe try it neat next time.

I love rooibos/redbush, but do agree that it is an acquired taste. It is caffeine-free so I happily drank it throughout both of my pregnancies and during breastfeeding.

I love Redbush tea! Have happily been drinking gallons of the stuff in pregnancy - I'd recommend drinking original rather than flavoured, and drink it black.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 17:02

it's lovely - I love it with lots of milk
much better for you than ordinary tea, low in tannins as well as caffeine

Sal22 · 26/05/2008 17:34

I love it and always drink it black. I prefer to let it brew for least 2 minutes, and I add a little honey if I want it sweet. Being naturally caffeine free and low in tannins, it's quite healthy. Here's a link with more information.

I am drinking it in my current pregnancy. Funnily enough I couldnt stand it last time I was pregnant but it seems to have grown on me. Its very good for you, and now DH has taken to it to, and wont drink anything else.

I love it- I always drink it with milk and I particularly like the vanilla or caramel flavoured variety but I think you can only get them in Lidl
