38 weeks reduced movements again!

Hey guys, I’m 38 weeks today and I’m having reduced movements once again. This is literally like the 7th time. Baby’s moving, but he’s moving less than usual. I don’t know if he’s changed position or what. I’m about to call triage but I literally just went in 3 days ago on Tuesday, for reduced movements too. They did a Doppler scan and CTG monitoring and everything was fine. I met the consultant too who said that as everything looks good, they still want me to go into labor naturally (I want a VBAC), which I was happy about because I do trust that doctor (he was also the surgeon when DS1 was born. He did say it looks like there’s a kind of pattern as I’m having reduced movement after every 2 weeks or so and so maybe baby has a quiet day once in a while, his heartbeat and blood flow, fluid around baby, etc etc look fine. But now the movements are definitely reduced again. I know they’ll tell me to come in again for monitoring, but are they likely to do something about it? Like tell me to go in for regular monitoring or early induction? I’m so scared of induction too.

I think it’s a conversation that should be considered.

They cannot tell you that you have to have an induction OP.

My daughter is 15 months old now, I did end up being induced due to reduced movements as well as other factors but that was a choice, nobody can force you to have one.

If everything on the scans & CTC etc looks good then there is no automatic need for induction but what they told me was that they essentially look at 30 day intervals, if you are in 3+ times within 30 days for reduced movements then they would start thinking about induction from 39 weeks to be on the safe side. Again though- it’s your choice. You have every right to say actually no, the scans are good, I’d prefer to wait x

With my first baby I had reduced movements for 2 weeks which were not improving, heart rate/scans etc looked fine but they suggested induction at 38+2. I had it and when he was born he wasn't breathing at first and had an infection, why is why he wasn't moving anymore. So personally I'd have a induction for reduced movements if I needed one again.

My induction was fine, worked straight away and had a vaginal birth - tbh it was quite a bit more painful than natural labour, but as it was my first baby I had nothing to compare it to at the time. If you have an induction I'd suggest walking/going on the birthing ball as much as possible to make it work and keep moving, that worked for me.

Thank you so much guys. I came into triage, they did a CTG everything looks fine, now I’m waiting for a scan.

I went 30+ times for reduced movements and was induced in the end. His HR dropped to 43 in labour and we nearly lost him but he’s safe and 5 weeks old now. Go in every time even if it’s every day

That must have been so scary 🥺 I’ve been booked in for induction too, tomorrow. Feeling so nervous

I had multiple reduced movements with DD. She was induced at 38 weeks. My others were 42 weekers so she was tiny in comparison. She did have a short stay in NICU but was with me on her first night.
She is 6 now. Cheeky and clever and so bloody tall!

Aww I'm glad you've got booked in, I always think it's better safe than sorry! Good luck, hope exciting! X
