second pregnancy experiences?

I’m thinking of having a second child, but believe it or not, the thought of going through pregnancy again puts me off.

My first pregnancy felt very difficult. I felt sick and was sick most of the time and it continued for the entire 9 months. I could hardly eat anything and I felt exhausted and emotional all of the time.

Anyone had a terrible first pregnancy but better second and can share their experiences?

11 weeks with my third pregnancy (one MC, and a 2.5 year old rainbow baby/toddler). I was sick as a dog with previous full term pregnancy, the sight of food would make me cry some days and I was constantly retching or sleeping. If I didn't have food within 2 mins of opening my eyes, I would instantly be nauseous.

This time round the nausea is much milder and manageable if I just keep grazing. Not as exhausted either. I joke that maybe my body is "used to it" this time round! Hormones still rampaging though 😂

I can't comment too much on the sickness as mine was pretty similar. But overall, at 35 weeks with my second I have to say, it's exhausting. There's so much less scope to rest when you need to and the tiredness is really hard. This seems to be the experience of most of my friends with their second.

Not trying to put you off or scare you but just to say if you can consider timing or support with childcare etc. do it and don't believe it will be easier second time as I think that would be rare.

I'm on my 4th pregnancy, one birth, two losses and now 28 weeks in this pregnancy.
The first 3 I had hyperemesis and had a pretty rotten time. This time I've barely felt pregnant!

Thanks everyone. I worry that it will affect my work and I’ve just got myself into a good job where I do want to progress (been there 7 months now). Wish my husband could do this pregnancy 😂 so that I can focus on my work!!

I can only speak from my own experience but with my daughter I found pregnancy so tough, I was permanently exhausted, lots of sickness, aches & pains etc.

I’m now 21 weeks with my second baby and genuinely if I couldn’t feel him kicking away & if I didn’t have a bump I would never have known I was pregnant this time. Maybe it’s the difference between having a boy this time, maybe it’s because my daughter is only 15 months old so I’m used to being tired & am too preoccupied to be even thinking about this pregnancy, or maybe this pregnancy just has genuinely been a lot easier but whatever the reason it has been much easier.
