Hey all,

So I think I am totally overreacting here but needing some assurance! Had a miscarriage last year and in April just past so hubby and I decided to stop trying and see what happens, so no tracking or worrying.

Anyway drank bottle of wine Saturday night, helped my sister move to a top floor flat on Sunday-no box lifting but picture large black bags on back, like I was climbing Everest-sweating and legs shaking (haha need to exercise more clearly)

Checked my phone today and noticed my period was late by a few days, thought nothing of it as my cycles might still be recovering after my miscarriage-took a test and bam pregnant.

So....have I potentially mucked up by heaving lifting or is that an old wives tale....? My mum is really concerned but I know a lot of people go to the gym etc throughout pregnancy so not sure if I should or can do anything after the fact?

The foetus is absolutely diddy and highly unlikely to be affected by lifting things. I moved house a week before I found out I was pregnant and all was fine. I had also had miscarriages. Don't stress!

old wives tale, don't feel guilty or worry.

You won't have harmed the baby.
And your too early for it to potentially have hurt you. Pregnancy hormones loosen ligaments, which can mean it's easy to hurt yourself.

Oh and more baby's are conceived over a drunken night out than over a herbal tea. So don't stress over the wine either.😜

22 years ago this was exactly me - we had a big boozy Saturday night and then we shifted bedroom furniture out of our room to get carpets fitted ( so really really heavy stuff) and then moved it all back in and then a few days later peed on a stick - he’s a strapping 21 year old now - but I understand your worry as I had been not drinking as we were trying and then a spontaneous night happened and I felt guilty until week 12 scan - I am sure you will have done nothing to the tiny collection of cells! Good luck!

I had two miscarriages last year, this time I didn't find out I was pregnant until 7.5 weeks. Had been drinking alcohol and caffeine, going through stress as I was made redundant from work with just 3 weeks from job cut announcement to my last day. I'm now 28 weeks totally surprised that this is the little bean to stick compared to the situation in my previous two pregnancies
You can lift things in pregnancy, I've spent the afternoon moving boxes of books!

The advice against lifting heavy things in pregnancy is to protect you - hormones loosen ligaments so you are more likely to injure yourself. And that is more of a concern in later pregnancy. You will be fine!
