Bleeding spotting at 17 weeks extreme anxiety

Hello,

I’m hoping someone can make me feel a bit better or has been in a similar situation. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant last Saturday I had a small bit of blood after wiping, this was extremely triggering for me as I have a history of loss. I rang the helpline and they weren’t concerned and then again today … super embarrassed to admit but I had some bleeding after masturbating ( just external stimulation).

I won’t be doing that again, but also the maternity helpline weren’t concerned and just said to monitor it. Has anyone else had this ? Or spotting during the second trimester ? My anxiety is on high alert due to previous history and I am struggling with my mental health though I don’t think help with that would be useful as it’s all based around the health of the baby and just praying and begging to get further along in this pregnancy and to have a healthy baby.

Hoping someone has been in the same boat and can’t offer me some reassurance or a kind word.

Hi, just wanted to reassure you as I was in the exact same position at 18 weeks! Went to the toilet one evening and there was a fair bit of blood in my knickers and I immediately thought the worst had happened. I called the hospital and they got me to go in for a check and they couldn’t find any reason for it, they weren’t concerned but my anxiety was through the roof as I’d also had two previous early losses.

It ended up being a random one off and I am now much further along and everything is fine. It’s horrible when it happens and it is a scare but hopefully the fact that the hospital aren’t concerned reassures you a bit.

Thank you, they didn’t want to see me and said to just monitor at home which originally I wasn’t happy about but your right they are the professionals and know best. Thank you for sharing your story as I feel like everyone else I’m surrounded by in life have had the happiest most perfect pregnancy whereas I am constant anxiety.

I had this at 19 weeks too, I went in and it was due to a cervical ectropian, no further action needed. Now nearly 34 weeks no further bleeding since Smile

I had several huge bleeds throughout my last pregnancy and everything was fine. I would keep an eye on it and contact the hospital again the next time it happens. I understand your anxiety. I had three miscarriages in a row before this pregnancy and was so on edge the whole time xx
