weelouxoxo · 05/07/2025 15:17

Heyy, going by my last period it seems my 12 week scan has been booked for when I’m just over 10 weeks?

is this normal or has anyone had this before and had to rebook?

Its fine, normal to be between about 10 and 14 weeks. What's your concern?

JuneySunshine · 05/07/2025 18:06

I don't think it is 'fine' as you need to be a bit further along if you want the NT measurement for screening.
But yes they'll appreciate that and offer you a second date if they can't do them on the day.

Actually that’s not accurate. The ‘12 week’ dating scan needs to be done between 11-14 weeks, as some of the screening tests aren’t able to be performed before 11 weeks.

NHS says the scan will be between 10-14 mine was on the earlier side of this with my first baby, when they dated me I wasn’t quite far enough along for the screening so they booked me in for a second 12 week the week after, I basically had two! So I think it’s all fine and normal don’t worry!

It literally says on the nhs website between 10 and 14 weeks...

Well I literally had to be rescanned because I was under 11 weeks. Ultrasound to check fluid at back of baby’s neck has to be done between 11 and 14 weeks, which it says on NHS website.

But you dont have to agree to that screening so that doesnt apply to everyone...

And the OP asked if people have had to rebook… which they will if they want this done.

I had a private scan at 10.5 weeks and they didn’t pick up the high fluid behind neck. Had our 12 week scan at 13 weeks and it was picked up right away. They said the neck fluid doesn’t always show until 11 +
