Hi Shelli,

Are you having CVS? I have had this at 13 weeks and from my research, I think there is a 1% risk of m/c. But it depends of who carries out the procedure. Some doctors carry out this day in, day out and have very good success rate. Good luck!

amnio?

I think you should speak to your midwife before you go for a test you aren't sure about.

I had a CVS at Kings College with both of mine - there is a 1% risk of miscarraige, it is quite painful and scared the hell out of me - they had to almost stab me from high up to get the needle in and no one had warned me - although it was quite new 8.5 years ago when I had it done for DD - they are better now - if you can get to Kings and have Prof Nicolaides do it, he is ace and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and even ring you late at night as soon as they have the results to save you from the worry for another night!

Sorry hope I haven;t scared you - just thought you should know as I didn't and it was a huge shock!

At 16 weeks I suspect you're talking about the triple test. It is a screening test that will give you your risk factor of your baby having DS. It's a blood test and cannot cause a miscarriage.

It sounds as if you need to talk it through with your midwife.

Sorry just read properly - think you have to have CVS before 13 weeks.
