Cyclogest

Currently almost 6 weeks pregnant and been taking cyclogest vaginally, twice a day and now worried I’ve not been inserting it high enough or in the right place .. it was only since I started reading up on it that I panicked I was doing it wrong . I definitely push it up there but just want to be reassured that the progesterone will be soaked up regardless of position ?? I also lie down for ages after, but the second I stand up so much comes out I worry I haven’t absorbed enough… so nervous as had a previous missed miscarriage TIA

Yep its fine. You might find it preferable to put it in your bum. Much less messy and doesnt come back out (until you poo!) so you know you've had it all!

Thanks for your response ! I was told to insert it vaginally but I’ll ask my doctor in the morning. So you reckon it’s ok ??

I second the PP. I switched to bum after I got recurring thrush from vaginal use and got fed up of the general mess. Took a bit of getting used to, but after a couple of days it was fine. And soooo much less mess.

Thanks! I know a lot will tell me to switch to the bum which I might do . I just want to know that up until then I’ve been absorbing it correctly and not to worry when loads comes out … thanks so much

From what I understand the stuff that comes out is just the remnants of the coating, not the actual medication. You've said you're lying down for a long while so I reckon you're OK and no need to worry.

I double checked with my doctor before doing this but switched to rectal use and found it much better. I start work very early so couldn't lie down long after inserting in the morning. I got awful irritation from whatever was coming out so needed to change. Also took away the worry of it not absorbing once I made the switch. Obviously check with your doctor first if you're wanting to switch but I found it so much better. Congratulations by the way!

@GG10 i had very similar situation to what you described and after doing Progesterone bloods, the levels were extremely low. But I was always pushing it in while lying. Once I tried to push it in while standing and slightly leaning forward then I felt it went in much deeper and I had much less “big leaks” or sometimes didn’t have any at all.
