Subchorionic hematoma

Went for an early viability scan today at a private scanning place. The woman scanning me said she could see a subchorionic hematoma but didn't say much about it other than I'd probably bleed for a few more days. I was bleeding heavily and passed a large clot before the scan. It seems to have calmed down slightly. I have an appointment at EPU on the 4th of July but I wondering if I should phone and ask to be seen sooner. I'm 6w2d

Personally I’d want to know size, location, risk to pregnancy and if it showed signs of solidifying. The private place should have given you this information.
Whilst SCH are not rare I’d call EPAU to see if they’ll see you and answer the qs the scan place did not: they may also recommend progesterone and give some advice re activities and rest - they may also offer to monitor it for you to see if it starts to shrink/resolve.

Thanks for your reply. I will phone them today and see what they say.

I bled for the first 16-18 weeks of my pregnancy and passed huge clots. My doctor put me on bed rest. I was told no sex or self love. That gravity wasn't my friend and to stay laying down. I was told to exercise but laying down. I was also told to reduce my aspirin. Bed rest is not standard practice but my DC1 was my last embryo after 7 years of fertility treatment and GP wanted to give me the best chances of a successful pregnancy. It was all resolved and not visible at the 20 week scan. My DC is now 6 1/2.

Honestly, I wouldn't scan. Ever time I was scanned I bled more because they do it vaginally and poke around. Realistically, scanning is only reassuring in that moment. I would be anxious again before I'd even got home. I had a lot of scans with DC1 and my anxiety was just as high if not higher after every bleed. The outcome won't change.

I had those with both pregnancies. Bled a lot in the 1st trimester. They are 12 & 15 now xx

@BlueRin5eBrigade for you maybe - I didn’t bleed more after them.
if the SCH is a risk to the pregnancy then I want to know about it. I can’t believe how much reassurance I got knowing where my bleeding was coming from given my previous losses.
My scans from 9w were abdomen scans not TV.

I guess @NameChange14192089 needs to decide how she wants to proceed. My past fertility issues/ fertility treatment/ miscarriages probably caused anxiety as well. I just found the scans didn't do anything to alleviate my anxiety and cause more bleeding.

I hope @NameChange14192089 has a happy and health pregnancy Whatever she decides to do.

Glad you all had positive outcomes. I have bled more every time I've been scanned when they were ruling out an ectopic pregnancy but they weren't able to see the heartbeat. So back on Friday to see if they can see it. I'm still waiting on EPU phoning back. It can take upto 24 hours. I'll let them know about the bleeding and the clots and see when they think is best to scan. I don't want to do it too early in case they still can't see the heartbeat and it needs to be redone anyway.

I had a bleed at 9 weeks due to a hematoma. It was resolving by the 20 week scan and totally gone a few weeks later. Hopefully the same for you too.
