Why do you ask? And no, I’ve never met anyone who had gotten pregnant over 50

BreakingBroken · 28/06/2025 15:02

Not met anyone who admitted to it? I suspect there would be a high risk of early miscarriage.

Victoria Coren Mitchell had a baby at 51 but I very, very, very much doubt it was natural. It’s almost impossible to have a baby naturally at that sort of age.

I work in obstetrics and have looked after 1 lady who was 50. She had used an egg donor and had IVF so not conceived naturally.

Supposedly my DH has one in his family tree (he is very into genealogy). The amounts of DNA shared by the woman’s children is consistent with her being the mother (rather than covering for an unwed daughter’s pregnancy). I imagine it’s super rare.

Many years ago I knew a woman whose friend had a baby at the age of 53. As far as I know, it was a natural pregnancy.

I’m 51 and due soon with my first! Pregnancy has been straightforward but used donor egg.
