Measuring a week behind after IUI (no trigger shot)

Hoping someone has had a similar experience.

I had IUI so my dates should be very firm.

I had an ultrasound a week ago that was 'inconclusive' and a follow-up today, which saw two yolk sacs. One has a 4.9mm embryo with a strong heartbeat, the other is smaller and has a small foetal pole but no heartbeat.

The measurements put me a full week behind my IUI dates.

The consultant seems happy with the development of Baby1, but says Baby2 is most likely a vanishing twin. They are rescanning me in a fortnight.

What I don't understand is how I can be a week behind if I had IUI. I didn't have a trigger shot but my ultrasound that day looked like ovulation was imminent. I had Clomid and very mature follicles on day 14, even though usually I ovulate on day 23ish (PCOS).

Has anyone had this and had a positive outcome? I'm hoping Baby1 is just younger than I thought, rather than delayed.
