Early loss

Hi All,

Yesterday (26th June), I was 2 days late for my period. I wasn’t planning to take a test until Saturday when I would be 4 days late. However, around 11am yesterday I started spotting (very pale pink only when I wiped). I felt like it wasn’t my period as I am usually heavy flow straight away. So I decided to do a test and it said I was pregnant 1-2 weeks (which would be accurate as I would’ve conceived exactly 2 weeks ago). I’d been feeling like I was pregnant t the last few days as boobs had ballooned , I’d had slight cramp the day before (nothing intense, just minor twinges a couple of times) and I’d gone off sugar (which happened in my last pregnancy).
About an hour after doing pregnancy test yesterday, I wiped myself and the blood was red instead of pink, and there was quite a lot of it, and has been like this for about ten hours now. I’ve been wearing a pad, and although it’s not soaked through a pad; there’s still red blood on it . It’s returned to being pale pink if I wipe now. I’m really confused as it’s not as heavy as a period would be, but the darker and heavier blood compared to the earlier spotting makes me very concerned. I have had no pain during bleeding.
Do I assume that this is an early loss chemical pregnancy? Has anyone here bled heavier after a positive test and continued with pregnancy?
I guess there’s not much I can do other than do a test in a week or so to see if it’s negative.
This would’ve been my second pregnancy as I had a beautiful little boy last July.
Feeling really upset right now

The unknown is so tricky isn't it.
If you're still testing positive that's a great sign, and not bleeding heavily.
I've bled through all my pregnancies, some heavier than other, and have two DC with one kicking away and still cooking, others that have ended in mc.
The only thing you can do is wait it out another couple of days, and if bleeding hasn't picked up do another test and see what it says. This early chemicals don't tend to have enough hcg to maintain in the body after passing baby for very long at all (as my experience and understanding shows but im no medical expert) so I'd assume if it was chemical it would be negative tests in a few days. Fingers crossed for you though and you can be one of the lucky few who don't have to experience pregnancy loss!

Thanks for your reply.
That’s encouraging to hear and I’m glad to hear you have another little one on the way.
Out of interest, how long did your bleeding last in your pregnancies? If you don’t mind me asking.
I’ve ordered some pregnancy tests and maybe I’ll take it in 3 or 4 days’ time and go from there. I suppose I expect the worst but have a tiny shred of hope for the best.
I did call 111 last night for some advice but they said to go up A&E. I’ll be honest, I thought why bother. I’ll be up there for hours and hours, and it’s not like they scan me this early on, and a blood test at the moment would probably tell me exactly what the pregnancy test did. I would go up there if bleeding became super heavy or I had any pain though

I've only ever been told to go in if bleeding was unusually heavy as a precaution of hemorrhaging. But its always been manageable ( always had heavy periods anyway)
I've spotted for a day here and there sporadically throughout first trimester, I've bled and passed clots heavily for 10 days straight (with dd2) and I've had light/fresh blood only on evenings for weeks before actually miscarrying.
But always stopped by the 12 weeks if it was a keeper.

With my chemical I just came straight on just late, and by that point my tests had always turned negative before my bleed.
Unfortunate, you're right in the fact that a and e won't be able to do anything for you. Which sucks. It really is just a waiting came now. Fingers crossed for you though
How is your bleeding now?

Sorry for late reply.
I bled like a period since Thursday. I’ve just taken a pregnancy test now and it’s negative. So I definitely had an early miscarriage. I’m gutted and upset, but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be this time. Hopefully next time 🙏

Thank you! Yes, it’s still hard even if the ‘baby’ was only a teeny tiny ball of cells at this stage. A loss is a loss.
As much as I was hoping I was bleeding for another reason, I am grateful that I tested negative today instead of testing positive today and then negative in a few more days. It would’ve given me false hope.
I’ve had my tears, but I’ll be ok. Just a really crappy way to end my maternity leave 😩.
