Increased NT Measurement of 2.8mm

Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone else has received a similar result and whether they decided to have additional tests? I paid privately for the NIPT but I was told the test for micro-deletions can’t be performed because it’s a donor egg. Really worried! Is anyone out there is a similar situation or has had a healthy baby after a raised NT result?

Hi, I thought a measurement below 3 was normal?

Accdg to the nhs resources below 3.5mm is normal. What did the midwife say?

Fizxy · 26/06/2025 22:20

Both of mine were on the slightly higher end of normal if I recall right (over 3mm) and nobody batted an eyelid and both came back low risk and were perfectly healthy.

I had a funny feeling when the sonographer told me the measurement that it was higher than average. I did some research when I got home and 2.8mm is well above the average for CRL of the baby. I think it something like 97th percentile. The NHS uses 3.5mm as the cut-off and anyone with a measurement of 3.5mm or more is offered further screening, however there is a lot of debate as to whether it should be 3mm. Having read up on it further, it seems further tests should be performed such as fetal echo and NIPT if the NT falls into the >95th percentile.

That’s very reassuring, thank you 🙏 I spoke to my midwife today and the combined results say screening has come back as low risk for the 3 biggies. Now just waiting on the NIPT results. I have arranged to have a fetal echo and early anomaly scan at The London Pregnancy Clinic on Monday to see whether there is any obvious cause before I consider anything else. It’s SO stressful. I feel helpless 😣

The NT on my first baby was 2.6mm and he is fine, the combined screening came back low risk for all. I’m pregnant now and this baby had a NT of 1.6mm and the combined screening came back 1/60 for downs and I had an NIPT on the NHS. It’s good you are getting extra reassurance but I wouldn’t be panicking if I were you. How far along are you? I think the NT tolerance changes depending on this.

I so appreciate you taking the time to message me…..I can’t tell you how much better I feel knowing that someone has been in a similar situation and everything turned out ok.

I was 12 weeks, 3 days when I had the scan.

I’m sure your little one is absolutely fine as well….it’s just awfully nerve wracking, isn’t it. I honestly thought that once I’d had my 12 week scan, I could finally relax a little and start to enjoy this pregnancy.

I hope you get the results of the NIPT back quickly. Please do let me know how you get on.

Sending big hugs 🤗

Hi,

can I ask you if you’ve had further scans for this?
